Riding For UpsNDowns 2023

Celebrating its 9th successful year, Riding for Ups n Downs continues to make an impact with over £14,000 raised for the Northamptonshire charity last year. This year promises to be even bigger and better, marking another milestone in this charitable endeavour.

About the event

Join us at Earls Barton Cricket Club (The Grange Sportsfield, Northampton Road, Earls Barton, Northamptonshire, NN6 0HF) for our annual charity ride, offering two amazing route options starting and finishing at the same location.

Riders, get ready to be greeted with a warm welcome as we celebrate your arrival. Indulge in a scrumptious BBQ, be entertained by live music, and participate in a variety of activities suitable for the entire family to enjoy!

In the week before the ride, we are also staging a virtual event - take part wherever you are in the world and log your cycling miles.

CURRENT TIMINGS for event. Long route, riders turn up at 7.45am onwards for briefing at 8.20, and start at 8.30am

Short route riders turn up at 9am, briefing 9.35 and start at 9.45.
Drinks stops at Hartwell (both rides) and Preston Capes (long ride only). Volunteers from the charity will be manning both stops.
Please keep a look out for subsequent messages here, as well as the WhatsApp group, email and social media, as hot weather (currently will not be brutally hot like our 2022 ride) may mean that we bring the start times forward.
T shirts for riders will be available for collection upon registration on the day (not before). We hope to have enough for all riders, but as we had to pre-order, there is a small chance that you may need to be flexible with sizing (as of 12/7/23 we still have enough for all riders and volunteers). Routes will be clearly signed, and are available below., and are on the WhatsApp group.
It is a figure of 8 route, the top part of the 8 is the short route which will be signed with brown arrows. At the Hartwell drinks stop, the shorter route loops back still following the brown arrows. The longer route then follows the black signs until they return to Salcey and resume following the brown  signs. The brown signs unfortunately run out at Cogenhoe, so then please follow black signs back to the Bar (I mean Cricket Club!)
We are really looking forward to the event, please feel free to invite friends and family to join the ride, or the drinks and BBQ and raffle (CASH NEEDED for the raffle) from 12 o' clock onwards back at the Earls Barton Cricket Club.
REALLY IMPORTANT due to recent unforeseen roadworks, the old long route has had to be redesigned (13/7/23), it will be fully signed before the event and the new gpx will be emailed out (14/7/23) as well as available on the WhatsApp group and on the UPsnDowns social media feeds. The Strava link below will also be updated. The new route still follows the short route before they diverge at Hartwell (as before).

Why take part?
Riding for Ups n Downs is the perfect opportunity to come together and make a difference while having fun and getting active. Whether you're an experienced cyclist or just looking for a leisurely ride with friends and family, this event is open to all abilities.

With two fantastic route options to choose from, there's something for everyone. Not only will you be able to enjoy the beautiful scenery and challenge yourself, but you'll also be making a positive impact by supporting a great cause. So why not join us and make a difference? We can't wait to see you there!

N.B. Running Tops are ordered weeks in advance of the ride. We have deliberately over-ordered tops but cannot guarantee late entries a running top.

Logging your miles for the virtual event

You can record your miles either manually through this web page, or automatically if you have a Strava or Garmin account.

Logging Manually
When you're logged in to your UltraBritain account and return to this page, you will find a blue 'Your Activities' button below the main event hero image.
