International Trails Day on the South West Coast Path

It's International Trails Day on the 5th June and we have a special event taking place over the weekend.

We challenge you to get outside and explore your local trails - whether it's your local parkrun (due to restart on the 5th!) or a longer challenge.

It's not about speed and it's not a race.

Take on 5km, a half marathon, marathon or an ultra (50km or more) distance over the two days.  You can achieve your goal distance in a single activity or as many individual activities as you like over the weekend and can take part from wherever you like.

Your challenge might be to simply make time to be outside, or it might be to stretch yourself to achieve a distance that's a real challenge.  It's whatever makes it most meaningful to you.

Earn yourself a custom medal and in so doing, support the fantastic team that maintains the South West Coast Path, one of our outstanding National Trails that stretches 630 miles from Minehead around the South West of the country to Poole in Dorset.

If you've been following the news recently, you'll know the trail is on the front line when it comes to damage from climate change and in the past few days has seen the largest cliff fall seen anywhere in the UK for the past 60 years.  This means a huge amount of remedial work to restore and reroute the trail to keep it open for everyone to enjoy.

The team that undertakes this is largely made up of volunteers and funds are always short so we are donating £1 from every entry to the team and we encourage you, if you are able, to make a donation alongside your taking part in this challenge within the entry form.

Find yourself on our online leaderboard and plot yours and your fellow challengers' progress.

Awards

We'll send you a custom medal to reflect your achievement when you complete your challenge or if you prefer you can instead opt for your own tree from Trees Not Tees, planted in their managed forests to offset CO2 emissions.  They will send you a certificate of ownership and its exact location!

We'll also have a downloadable certificate of achievement for you.

We're working in partnership with the Trail Management team and we expect to announce further benefits shortly!

Logging your miles

This is a virtual challenge and you can take part wherever you want and whenever you want during the weekend.
All your walks, hikes, runs - anything on foot - count towards your goal.

You can connect your Strava account if you have one (you can create one for free if you don't and would like one) for automatic logging or alternatively, log your activities manually directly within this page once the event starts in a few clicks.  Full instructions will be emailed out to you.
